Privacy
Zing runs on your computer. There is no Zing account, no Zing API key, no telemetry and no analytics. Studying videos, rendering drafts and making memes all happen locally. Your media stays on your machine.
What can touch the network, and only when you ask:
A reference video link.
Zing downloads a video from a link only after you consent. Local files never need the network.
Model and font files.
The speech model, OCR models, the face detector and the font library download the first time a feature needs them. Each one is pinned to a URL and a SHA-256 checksum, cached on your machine, and reported when it downloads. The speech model comes from Hugging Face, and Zing names it before you confirm.
Meme template blanks.
Asking for a template can fetch its blank image the first time. Use --offline to forbid that.
Optional voiceover.
If you set an ElevenLabs API key and choose ElevenLabs, the voiceover request goes to ElevenLabs. The default voice engine runs locally.
Uoink.
Zing talks to Uoink only if you set it up, through an address on your own machine.
Your AI client is your choice.
If you connect a cloud AI client over MCP, the tool results it receives go wherever that client sends them. Most results are file paths and measurements; get_frames returns frame images.
This website
myzing.app counts page visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which sets no cookies. It never sees your clips, drafts or anything else on your machine. The Zing app itself sends no analytics.
The example video on the home page is a YouTube embed from youtube-nocookie.com. It plays muted when it scrolls into view. With motion paused or reduced, it loads only after you press Play.
